Training according to IRATA standards

Topics covered during the training:

  • Getting familiarized with the personal equipment, including the use and checking of the equipment, ropes and other related equipment, maintenance of the equipment and documentation
  • Practical training: rope installation, different climbing and landing manoeuvres using rope access equipment, rescue work and transportation manoeuvres, rope securing systems, tying knots.

Level 1 technician

 - Able to perform a limited range of rope access tasks under the supervision of a level 3 technician.

Duration: 5 days (4 days for training and 1 for examination).

Requirements for the trainees:

  • The minimum age of a trainee is 18.
  • Trainees must be physically and psychologically fit to perform the tasks expected in terms of strength, agility and co-ordination.
  • Trainees must be able to withstand the stresses of the work environment, such as heat, cold and other inclement weather.
  • Trainees must have medical examination certificates (stating “may work”).

Languages: Lithuanian, Russian, English

Certificate

Those successfully passing the examination shall be registered with the IRATA database.

Those completing the course shall be issued a certificate, an ID card and a logbook.

Validity of the certificate – 3 years as of the date of passing the examination.

Level 2 technician

- Capable of performing complex tasks, rigging ropes and undertaking rescue actions under the supervision of a level 3 rope access technician.

Duration: 5 days (4 days for training and 1 for examination).

Requirements for the trainees:

  • A trainee, in seeking a level 2 certificate, must be a qualified level 1 rope access technician, and have no less than 1 year and 1000 hours of work experience performing different work by employing rope access methods.
  • Trainees must be physically and psychologically fit to perform the tasks expected in terms of strength, agility and co-ordination.
  • Trainees must be able to withstand the stresses of the work environment, such as heat, cold and other inclement weather.
  • Trainees must have medical examination certificates (stating “may work”).

Certificate

Those completing the course shall be issued a certificate.

Validity of the certificate – 3 years as of the date of passing the examination.

Level 3 technician/supervisor

 - Able to fully perform the work foreseen in the project, plan work performance methods, evaluate the risks, and plan and perform rescue work.

Duration: 5 days (4 days for training and 1 for examination).

Requirements for the trainees:

  • A trainee, in seeking a level 3 certificate, must have 1 year and 1000 hours experience as a level 2 rope access technician, hold a valid First Aid qualification and be able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required for level 1 and 2 specialists.
  • Trainees must be physically and psychologically fit to perform the tasks expected in terms of strength, agility and co-ordination.
  • Trainees must be able to withstand the stresses of the work environment, such as heat, cold and other inclement weather.
  • Trainees must have medical examination certificates (stating “may work”).

Certificate

A certificate is issued.
