Training according to GWO standards

The Global Wind Organization’s Initial Safety Training course for onshore / offshore activities covers the following modules:

  • GWO Working at heights
  • GWO First aid
  • GWO Manual handling
  • GWO Fire awareness.

Module: GWO First Aid

Duration: 2 days (16 hours)

Requirements for the trainees:

  • The minimum age of a trainee is 18.
  • Trainees must have medical examination certificates (stating “may work”).

 

Topics covered during the training:

Legislation, basic knowledge of human anatomy, assessing casualties, risk factors specific for wind energy, cooperation with emergency services, knowledge of ability to provide first aid help to various casualties (theory and practice), behaviour in emergency situations (practice according to scenarios), treatment of burns, injuries, cuts, fractures.

Language: Lithuanian, Russian, English

Certificate:

Those successfully completing the training course shall be awarded with a GWO certificate.

Validity of the certificate – 2 years as of the date of issuance

Module: GWO Manual Handling

Duration: 1/2 days (4 hours)

Requirements for the trainees:

  • The minimum age of a trainees is 18.
  • Trainees must have medical examination certificates (stating “may work”).

Topics covered during the training:

Legislation, common hazards in the workplace, proper lifting methods, simple manual handling risk assessments, main injuries.

Language: Lithuanian, Russian, English

Certificate

Those successfully completing the training course shall be awarded with a GWO certificate.

Validity of the certificate – 2 years as of the date of issuance.

Module: GWO Fire Awareness

Duration: 1/2 days (4 hours)

Requirements for the trainees:

  • The minimum age of a trainees is 18.
  • Trainees must have medical examination certificates (stating “may work”)

Topics covered during the training:

Legislation, fire types, fire extinguishing methods, fire prevention, risks associated with wind turbine work, practical scenarios.

Module – GWO Working at height

Duration: 2 days (16 hours)

Topics covered during the training:

Legislation, relevant accidents, safe working procedures, selection and operation of equipment, risks and hazards present in wind turbines, various types of rescue equipment, rescue principles and methods, suspension trauma, emergency exercises, ascending/descending, work restraint and positioning.

Those successfully completing the training course shall be awarded with a GWO certificate.
